As required by Ohio Revised Code Sec. 125.32, the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) has developed a data sharing protocol for the enterprise data management and data analytics program. This operating protocol constitutes agreement by the Directors of the participating state agencies and provides guidance regarding the following:
How participating agencies may use confidential data in accordance with confidentiality laws applicable to the provided data;
Who has authority to access data gathered under the program;
How participating agencies shall make, verify, and retain corrections to personal information gathered under the program; and
Data sharing responsibilities of participating agencies and DAS

We follow all state issued data security policies and procedures related to security and access. In order to ensure platform and security compliance, the data analytics team ensures strict security measures for the user (user identity authentication, user access authorization), application and data (data de-identification services and data security / encryption at-rest), and network and hardware (network security / data encryption in-motion and physical security / hosted on-site).
Additionally, the data analytics platform utilizes a rigorous lines of defense to ensure end user access path security including: VPN state private networks, secure server with controlled access, application security within tools, data encryption, etc.

No, the Ohio Data Analytics platform does not replace a data warehouse but works to complement and support any currently existing data warehouses. It also has the flexibility to work with databases and data marts as well. Common use cases for data warehouse augmentation include ETL off-load, staging, and pre-processing for a data warehouse.
