The Ohio Department of Health in conjunction with the Governor’s Office of Health Transformation released several online tools that enable anyone to identify local health priorities in the State of Ohio. One of the tools is the State of Ohio Health Facts Website, designed and built by the State of Ohio Business Intelligence Team.
State of Ohio Health Facts was designed for the purpose of providing data needed to inform health improvement priorities and strategies in the state. Ohio’s performance on population health outcomes has steadily declined relative to other states over the past few decades. A new State Health Improvement Plan released early last year recommended that the state provide a health data warehouse that state and local public and private stakeholders can use to compile and analyze data at the state and local levels for population health planning.
The State of Ohio Business Intelligence Team used Tableau to create Ohio Health Facts as a tool where anyone can have access to the metrics and aggregated data. This new resource is an interactive Tableau dashboard and provides resources for state agencies and local partners, with a uniform set of categories and metrics to use in related assessments. Ultimately, the tool provides public-facing health data that state, local, public and private stakeholders can use to compile and analyze data at the state and local levels for population health planning.
